ARCH Development Corporation [ARCH] is a not-for-profit community development corporation located in the historic neighborhood of Anacostia in Washington, DC. The organization was founded in 1991 with a focus on small scale neighborhood business development as well as general business support.

In 2004, the Board of Directors developed a strategic plan. This plan led to a change in focus for the organization concentrating primarily on employing arts and cultural activities as part of a comprehensive, synergistic approach to community revitalization in Anacostia.

ARCH believes that in collaboration with other community groups there is a solution. ARCH feels that properly organized facilities and development programs designed to attract artists, performing arts groups, theater companies and other community arts organizations can serve as the engine for neighborhood economic development. This arts approach will yield other benefits. Arts can nourish the spiritual and creative energies to allow individuals to regenerate themselves. Art also can bridge the many differences that seemingly divide the residents of Anacostia: age, gender, income, race and ethnicity.
